Well, I need some help, today I decided to put the belt pulley I got at the salvage yard on my A. It looks like a tight fit, now before I break somthing I want to ask if there is a trick to it. The shaft is hollow, so is it like a power steering pump where you use a bolt to draw it in? I don't want to hammer it but if that's the way ok. Thanks for any helpful hints.

If you are just talking about putting the cast belt pulley on the shaft, it should slide right on without any significant force. Clean the splines in both the pulley and on the shaft before you try to put it on.

Thoroughly clean the splines on the shaft. Use the flat surface of a file to smooth off the edges. Use the edge of the file to get into the grooves of the shaft.
Clean the inside of the pulley splines as best you can.
Be careful using a hammer to install because the bearing on the inside may become damaged with too much force. Grease the splines before installing.

It should slip right in without forcing it.

Ok, thanks for the tips, it probably just needs to be cleaned better.
