Just adjusted and pulled the brake covers off my Super M to take a first look. The actual 4 brake disc linings look fairly good but the plates themselves are a bit pitted and rusty. Question is: can these things be turned like a brake disc on a car to have them smoothed out? Or are they a replaceable item? Any insight would be appreciated. I'd also like to thank (too many names to list) all those who helped me with my manifold rethreading issue. All is well now.

Freud I use 80 grit paper on a DA sander to clean the steel surfaces up,If the disc's appear to have any oil stain from a leaky bearing cage seal don't try to reuse them. Also if the expander plates have been turned down I mill about 50 to 100 thousand's off the casting that encloses them, that will compensate for the turn down of the plates.

They can be turned, provided they are not too far gone. Available only from salvage. If they aren't too bad, sandpaper will clean them up. Bates Corp, etc will have used ones.
