If I'd been there that super M wouldn't have gone that cheap!. Old balers are really cheap, you can buy them old JD 14T's for $500 OR less, JD wants $14,500 for a new one about the same size.
They got enough for that old Ford tractor.

Went to an auction a couple weeks ago in Swanton Vermont and saw an old farmall H that didn't run and wouldn't turn over, still in it's original work clothes and covered in grease, auctioneer didn't know what was wrong with it, maybe the starter had locked up or it had become seized, said it ran when it was parked but he didn't say how long ago that was sold for $1,600!

Oh yes, something that looks nice will bring top dollar, doesn't matter how much of a piece of junk it is mechanically, I've seen that many times. People associate good paint with well maintained and like new, one of the tricks the local consignment yard plays is spraying oil on old weathered paint to make it shine better, and paint certainly can hide alot. People seem to be blind when it comes to buying stuff, some people just can't see past the paint, even when it has been poorly repainted.

What was that New Holland chain rig, would that be a super 66?.

I'll tell ya what tears me up. Last spring I was at a sale, and they were bidding on a pretty good painted up F-12, when one of them Cadillac SUVs pulled up in the road. A guy and his wife, probably mid thirtys, and a couple of kids got out and walked up. Left the Caddy in the middle of the road. The clothes they had on would have bought a good tractor. Walks up to the ring and starts raising his hand on every bid. Bought the old F-12 for $1600. After the sale I was talking to the auctioneer, and the yuppy walks up and ask the auctioneer "where are the keys?" Told him you don't need any keys. Then he comes back and wants to know where the starter is. Auctioneer got the origional owner to start it for him. Should have seen the look on his face when the old owner starts to crank the F-12. While the origional owner is explaining how some things work on the tractor, yuppies wife tells the auctioner "all he needs to do is get it home, we're going to put it in my flower bed out in the yard". Last I seen of the guy, he was trying to hire someone with a trailor to haul it home for him. yuck ken
