Well boys,

She has arrived, about 7:30 last night. My 1975 1066, nice. I will get a pix when I and all done. The truck driver was funny. I bought the tractor in CT and the batteries were dead. They jumped it in CT and he left it running on the trailer the whol eway to our place in Mass, 160 miles. That was good, he backed in the drive and we off loaded it. He then shot it off, and that was it, dead. We tried to jump it, nothing, the start would wine but the gear did not engage.

QUESTION: Do you think there was not enough balls in the jumper cables from my truck to fire the starter bendix or do you think the starter it shot. When they jumped it in CT, they took a bolt and crossed the tops of the solenoid. I know I need new batteries but I think there must be something wrong. Anyway, a chain an another tractor, we got her turned around and down back. Took the starter off anyway. Thanks

Dangit! I knew sumun would do me one better! :? ) Fun to have them isn't it. That was good thinking on your drivers part. I had forgotten how much I enjoyed the bigger IH until that 966 started rumbling under my wideside again. ... I'm pretty sure it was the tractor... POST A PIC!!

Hi Ya John,

Your starter drive is shot. No big deal, the starter can be overhauled very easily and this oftentimes is far, far cheaper than a new starter; ya don't wanna go there! :>)

Great news on the tractor! Good for you! Pass the pictures, please.

Allan

Yes Sir,

Those tires are a big item and if a feller is lucky enough to get a good set on an old tractor, he is that much ahead of the game.

Darnit John!!

Your tractor will not start. You can't get parts til Monday, your stuck til then and you have a few minutes on your hands.

So, get out there and take some pictures of that beauty! Every time I see someone's new acquisition, it gets my blood going. It's kinda like sharin' in the excitement of family member, so to speak. :>)

Sloroll put up pictures of his 966 that he just got and I've got a shortcut to his tractor and am lookin’ at it every now and then. Now, I ask you, where's the sensibility in that? Me thinks red tractors are a stimulant. :>)
