I have a saw mill with an International 6 engine. The #2 starter valve is leaking. Will that adversely effect my engine performance or do I have other problems? I do not have any horsepower.
I might also not be building enough pressure from my injector pump.

Do you know where I can find the manual #iss-1003 which is for this injector system?

By the way, are you aware that the decompression valves have a clearance adjustment. Possibly yours are out of adjustment and the switchover mechanism is preventing one from closing. You have to remove the valve rocker arm cover to adjust of course. Don't recall the clearance number, but could look it up.

I'm not sure what the clearance should be but there is about 20 thousands. How much pressure should I have when I open an injector line?

According to my service manual for the MD, the starting valve clearance is supposed to be 60 to 80 thousands (.060-.080) The intake and exhaust valves are .017, Specifications on the injectors says they open at 700 psi. Thus you must have at least 700 psi in the lines to the injectors for them to work.

If you are talking about a Diesel, it is a UD-6 International engine. If you mean the compession release valve on No. 2 cylinder is leaking, yes, that will definitely affect the performance. You will be losing compression that you need for the engine to function as a diesel.

Do you mean a UD-6 engine or a six cylinder International engine. By number two starter valve do you mean the combustion chamber shutoff valve on a UD-6? If that is what you mean, it will definitely affect the performance as you are loseing compression on that cylinder.

Yes it is a UD6. I have blow by when I pull the spark plug and turn the engine over in the diesle run position. When I crack the injector lines I do not see a difference in the way the engine runs from one line to the next. That is why I was wondering if the pump was bad.
