Thanks for the input , what I think is to put new wiring on it. When I put a new voltage regulator on it last year I noticed several places where the wire was bare. What about the places I couldnt' see...

Any advice on where to get the wiring? Any one have experience on what to look out for, or is it pretty straight forth? Also I noticed my ground strap is frayed and old looking, would this be limiting the system and not allowing the battery to charge?

You can buy a single wire Delco Alternator at Napa, but are you sure these problems won't continue? Maybe you just need fresh wiring, and heavy battery cables that are neccesary for a 6 volt system. Your 6 volt starter will run off 12 volt, you will need to switch to 12 volt bulbs, and reverse the wires on amp gauge if you go to negative ground.

In addition to what dave said, You will also have to change the wireing at the coil (Pos wire to Neg And Neg to Pos)wen you go to NEG ground, And run a resitor(To reduce voltage for a 6V coil) from tractor wireing to the coil. CLIFF
