Hello, Anyone looking for a project 674 diesel check the classifieds on this site. It runs well but has a cracked block. I have located a replacement block but just don't have time to fix it right now. I had the head off and it looks good. Everthing else works. ThanksYC

Hey, I have a 584 with a cracked block and I had a guy stitch it. Almost like putting a bunch of dutchmans in place. Did the water jacket and oil pan. That was in 1996, still running everyday and works great. Don't sell it, fix it. Anyway, I hope you do sell it if you want, even though you made a SMALL mistake, my god.

Hello, Thanks for the word about the 584. Does that have a D239 in it? These cracks are pretty bad in this one. They run from the very top of the block all the way down to the main bearing and are pretty wide, though pretty might be the wrong word here. The crack seems to have gotten to the oil passage to the main bearing as there is water easing around the mains when pressure is applied. I have never seen one this bad. I believe the fellow that had it before me left it over two or three winters with just water in it. The head though appears undamaged. I believe the water level may have been below the head. If I had the time I would surely get a used block as the rest of the tractor seems sound. I have another one to fix up and can only have so many tractors, even if they are all red! Thanks again for the advice. YC

That's not how it works, bud. The point of having separate classifieds is to keep the buying/selling stuff and the discussion stuff apart, not so you can post a classified, then go to the discussion group and say, "Hey! Go look at the ad I just posted!"

It's bad form, and I hope nobody buys your tractor because of it.
