I've been wondering what the correct jars are for these precleaners. On ebay, you see kerr, ball perfect mason, ball special mason, short jars, long jars, pickle & peanut butter jars and lots of the sellers call them original. My super c has a short perfect mason, kinda square/round shoulders with six vertical ribs about an inch long, but I don't know if that's right either. Just wondering, Jim

Ball was the supplier for IH
I believe most of the jars made in the 40s and 50s, were round but maybe the square ones are correct too. I guess the square ones are earlier but do not know. My 1947 M does have a square one on it. That being said there is no reason some IH dealer didn't go down to the corner grocer and buy a box of Kerr or Atlas jars and sell them to his customers where there "original" jar broke. so I guess that would make any jar "correct"?

As near as I can tell the Ball Special mason in the square shape would have been original. But, like Nebraska Cowman says, who knows for sure? If it fits and looks good, use it.
