I need to put a winch on my 25 ft gooseneck to pull on dead tractors. I don't know what the minimum size should be. I would be pulling on rolling 560s, 660s, Case LAs,...etc. Maybe on occasion tractors with flat tires that don't roll to well. Any recomendations or tips guys???? Minni

Get the next size bigger than you think you'll need, and you won't regret it! Been there.

I have a Warn winch on my trailer. It has an 8,000 lb single line pull, never actually got to use it yet. I know they pulled a backhoe out of the mud with it. Check out Warn's website.

I don't know much about winches but I'd be interested to hear what make and model you decide to buy.

I use one rared for 3500 single pull and 7000 doubled and have never had any problems. I have even pulled tractors on with no wheels and but never stopped pulling

Old, what brand of winch do you have? Also, is your trailer a deck over style or more like a car hauling trailer? Inquiring minds want to know.

No idea on the brand of winch and I have used it on both types of trailors. Only thing I ever had any trouble with loading and got around that one also was a TD-6 with blade. One side had no power so we used the winch to keep it from turning, winch wouldn't have enough to pull it up by its self. But it was up around 10,000-11,000lbs
