Tie rods for Super C

Hi, I'm just starting restoration on an 1952 Super C with a wide front end and am having a problem with the tie rods. A previous owner removed the clamps and welded the inside rods to the outside tubes. This makes it impossible to adjust the toe in and it really really needs to be adjusted. As it is it's nearly impossible to steer. I've been looking for a replacement set of tie rods but they are difficult to find and I was wondering if anyone knew if tie rods from one of the later numer series would fit and work properly. Any suggestions you guys might have would be appreciated. Thanks for your thoughts.

Hi Lou, This problem has been on this forum before. You could have new tie rods made at a machine shop where they can match the tubing and would have the dies to thread the tubing. These shops can bend and thread anything you need anymore. You could give Bates a call in IN. They may have good used parts. Their number is 1-800-248-2955. Your IH dealer may be able to obtain these too. Hal
