Harley, in the previous thread is correct. The January 2003 issue of Harvester Highlights (The IH Collectors Club publication) shows original pictures of the 1,000,000 Farmall, an M, produced on April 30, 1951. This was also the 25th anniversary of the Farmall plant, called the Tri-City Works, where in 1926 the first Farmall Regular was built. So producing 1,000,000 Farmalls took 25 years. The production of the tractor on the 25th anniversary of the plant is quite a coincidence, but I will take it for the truth, unless someone can show other documentation proving it wrong. As most people know, the 5,000,000 is pictured in Ken Updike's "International Harvester Tractor's 1955-1985".

CNKS: A FARMALL is an International Harvester, but not all International Harvesters are FARMALLS. I'd hate to see you doing a cencus. One year you would count people, the next year it would be hogs and people You count Farmalls the first time around then 25 years later you count IH. Why not just count Farmalls every time or IH every time.

Yes Hugh, I should have said 5,000,000 International. So shoot me! What's a "cencus"?

Uh uh uh Cinks! There goes that temper again! Better lay off those lemons for breakfast. You are developing the reputation of board scrooge.

CNKS: You can say whatever you want when it's your own opinion. I will defend that one anywhere. When you start quoting someone else it better damn well be to the letter. You mis quote someone, and it just serves to make them look stupid.

On cencus, I should have spelled CENSUS. But I didn't say Guy or Ken spelled it that way.

Going to retract the part about the 1st Farmall, as Guy Fay's book indicates it was built earlier.
