It is pretty simple. Go to any hunting supplier and get a jug of double 00 shot, or even number 7 will work. Lead is cheaper than steel shot, throw it in and duck tape your tank to a spoked rear wheel of a tractor and go for a drive. It will tear it into dust size pieces. It is probably a little late in the season to plow all day if you would like to get her shinny on the inside. The shot is still good for a hundred more tanks or ok for a friend to reload shells with. Good luck Dave NE IOWA

Hi John, I used a wet or dry tank vacuum on that gas tank and I did the cleaning outside, no problem whatsoever. Hal

Gasoline fumes pulled through a vacuum cleaner hose may well burn when they reach the motor brushes of the vacuum. Get one of those "grasping fingers" tools and pull the grass out.

Hi John, I used a vacuum cleaner to vacuum rust and dirt from my gas tank. I used a cannister vacuum with a long hose so there were no sparks.
I couldn't get my big paw in the opening so I recruited my wife. I always used her to put those keepers in when I was reassembling a cylinder head. She complained that I was cutting her finger nails off. Hal

Good suggestions all and I will try it,except the mini cows;).I got this tank and it looked good on the inside.I did flush it out wioth water beforeI put it on and let it dry a few days beforeI put gas in it.It was only after a couple of hours of running did I find out thye grass was in it and at first thought one of my kids put it in there, but neither would have been able to get to it,young kids.I wish I had known the grass was in there before Istarted putting the ole gal back together.

Good luck with this one :) Lye, Drano or Septic Tank root killer might work. Or just use it and install one of those cheap clear plastic fuel filters and have a couple of easy disconnects in the fuel line to blow out any blockage.

Try putting some miniature cows in there...
ha ha. Maybe try filling with water and floating it out? Or use compressed air to blow it out?

Try filling with water and floating the grass out of the top. May take several tries but I bet you can do it!

Mouse nests? Is it dry? if dry air and shaking like allan says might get it after a while. Otherwise you might try lots of water. It ain't gonna be fun.

John,

Tank is empty right? Put your air nozzle in there to move things around a little, then shake some more.

You oughta be able to work it all out.

Allan
