That muffler reminds me

Does anyone make a decent quality quiet muffler for a BN (same as an A or B)? I bought one of those cheapies from TSC, and it is just too loud. I want a quiet tractor. My hearing is valuable, plus my neighbors and families peace is important.

Thanks in advance,
Steve

I went to a muffler shop and got a piece of pipe that went into the outlet welded a plug on the end and drilled holes in the side and then stuck it in the outlet sure did quiet it down. Some mufflers you get for replacement will have a baffle in so you cannot see thru and these are quiet. Original had small outlet and baffle.

OEM Tractor Parts has an "original look" muffler for $42, don't know about the sound. Mark's Tractors sells original look and sound mufflers for $79. I have two of those, they are as advertised. The C113/123 won't make much noise with these mufflers.

You might try at Carter & Gruenenwald. I could not stand the racket from the TSC mufflers I had so I ordered a pair from C&G to replace 'em with.

They don't look exactly original (the main "can" part is half again as long as the TSC muffler) but they are wonderfully quiet. And after 4 years of service they are still silver - unlike the the TSC's which began to rust immediately after the first use.

Gotta think C&G stocks an equivalent quality muffler to fit your BN...

Try Mike at steel wheel ranch...I bought a B muffler from him for $20 (shipping was cheap too) and it is as quiet as any other I have had. Have had it on the tractor for about 3 years and it only has very minor rust at the seam. If you call Mike he can answer just about any question about the muffler you might have.
