It's always amazed me the lack of turbo whistle on a buddie's stock 4520. Compared to other turbocharged stuff I use (JD 4455, 8300, 8960, 7700 combine; also Cat/Mack/Cummins-powered trucks) the 4520 is virtually without turbo sound.

On the other hand every other engine noise makes it into the 4520's aftermarket cab - it's far and away the noisiest cab tractor I've ever operated!

I have replaced a couple of TO4 turbo's on IH tractors with Switzer 3LM turbo's which build another 2-3 psi of boost and create alot more turbo noise.

try a 4 inch strait pipe about 3 1/2 feet long,a to-4 will whistle nice if you get the pipe the right length.
also for some reason a curved pipe don't work.

Can't help with what to go to, but be careful what you wish for, our CIH 4240 running that old IH 4-cylinder turbo engine is cranked up to 105 engine hp(or pto???) and the turbo whines so bad I can't run the thing at speed for more than a half hour without my skull ringing for hours afterward.
