Hi Guys,

Spent all morning hauling gravel and working my "new" loader tractor. :>)

This thing just works tooooo oo darned good!

So, since the leak at the torque motor has calmed down to just a 'seep', I went around and checked all the other connections for leaks, tightened where necessary, routed and tied up hydraulic lines and put the hood and nose cover back on. Nothing rubbing or 'rattlin' in that department so looks like I'm good to go when the snow comes.

Last item was to get rid of that darned PTO pump and reinstall the toolbox back on the tractor where it used to live. All in all, a very good day!

Thanks to everyone for your help in my little project.

Ooops, the local dealer just called and says something about a very clean 766D with only 4900 hours coming in this week..... .....Darnit!! Here we go again! Geeze! This old iron is kinda habit forming!

Hey Allen,
Nice looking set up! and I do like the F-10 on the bottom. Used to be a bunch of them "up home". What part of Nebraska you in? I grew up around Thedford, and still miss the hills and all the great old jewells for machinery that were up there. I worked to a guy that had a 656 Hydro turned around with a F-10 on it. Man talk about a hay stacker. Miss the stacks now, but not "pitching" them.

Allen,

Glad to see you made it and are happy now that you don't have to shift all the time to keep the loader moving!

I have a 966 that I kind of "tinkered" with when the engine went down on me. I ended up with a cross breed between a 1466, 1066, and a 966. Maybe I should call it a 1266? Anyway, I stroked it, put in the big flywheel, turboed it, and after all was said and done I had twice the tractor I did before. Let me know if you want more details...

Hi Ray,

Funny you should say that. Out here in this "hail" country, A F-11 pulled up to a building loaded with shingles is a very common sight. :>)

I just cannot believe how this thing operates now. We got 4" of heavy wet snow last night, first thing this morning, I had to help the neighbor out of his yard.

I created a little monster! That H with the fluid in the tires and crossed-chains acts like it doesn't even know it snowed! Wow! Do I ever like this tractor/loader combo now!

(Ooops, if I keep pattin' myself on the back, I'm gonna break my arm) :>)

Allan;
You done real good...you got yourself a fine looking lil' tractor. Looks like your should be able to pile snow up higher than your roof. Those F11's are still one of the best older loaders. I've got one on a green tractor, and it still handles round bales like a champ. Yesterday, at a local auction a Farmall 300, WF, Power Steering, Good TA, with a F11 brought a reasonable (I thought) $1600. Lot of usable power for not any more than a discount store lawn tractor! Take care, and keep that snow in big neat piles till spring.
☺☺☺

Wow!

They gave that one away, didn't they? Heck, I think the loader is worth that if it's straight.

Hi Allan, Glad to read that your project was successful, I've been following along from the start. Speaking of that 766D, something makes me remember that a while back you might have been looking for a 966? Anyway I saw a couple listed for sale in one of our local shopper papers and thought of you. One's closer to you, at a dealer up in Rapid City, and one's at a dealer up at Pierre SD. Also there's a couple sitting at the IH dealer in Valentine, but I don't know if they're for sale or just being worked on. There's a 1086 and a few M's coming up on an aution only a few miles from here a week from Monday, and both a 1206 and an 806 on the same auction down near Grand Island next weekend....wish I'd somehow win the lottery between now and then!

Hi Ron!

How's all in your area? Snowing like crazy up here in the hills this morning!

Yep, (I think) I need a 966 and a 766 both.

The local "Red Repair" has a 966 coming in to get a new engine and the owner wants to sell it. They told me it would be in "over winter" sometime.

Since I've already told them that I was interested in it, I won't go back on my word and buy something else until I've at least looked this one over.

The rest of the family thinks I'm nuts for buying these four tractors. Yep, guess I'm still on a guilt trip from that darned farm sale back in '83, I guess, but four tractors is what I lost that day and the same four tractors is what I shall get back, so help me! I'm now half way there. :>)

Thanks for the hollar,

Allan

Hi Guy,

It is a smaller F-11 Farmhand. Here's a picture of the good 'uns, the F-10s. :>)

Good job feller. Glad to see everything worked out in the end. Just takes a little ingenuity puttin pieces together, but then anybody can buy new stuff and bolt it on. Luck to ya, Allen in Missouri (Harley)
