I noticed you have a 656. I looked at one today with a nice paint job, one worn rear tire, 3100hrs, runs like a top. Has PS, TA (Is this hydraulic) and Ind. PTO. The lift control lever friction adjustment is broken off so it won't stay put. Also the control lever outboard of the lift control is missing. (Was this an option and what is it?)

He wants $5250. This price seemed high to me considering the tractor cost $7700 new, what do you think?

It is probably too big for my use. I really don't need anything over 50 pto HP.

Is this a good tractor? Does it use a lot of gas? Does it have any weak points I need to look for?

Thanks

Mornin' Gus,

Any 656 with a true reading of 3100 hours on the clock is worth that figure, IMHO.

No, the T/A is not hydraulic and yes it is going to be a gas guzzler.

That lever for the draft is missing because it is outboard of that lift lever; can't imagine one being shipped without the draft control.

But, if it really only has 3100 hours, grab it. You will not be disappointed, they are really nice tractors.

(Since it is a gasser, it will probably need an engine at 5,000 hours tho)

Just my view,

Allan

Allan,

Thanks. Even though I don't need this much tractor it is sure beautiful and sounds sweet when it runs!

Does the draft control keep a plow depth constant and pull up when it hits something hard? I knew Ford had this feature but didn't know IH did. Is it used for anything besides plowing?

One rear tire will need to be replaced soon. It is a 14.9x38 as I remember. It must cost a bundle?
