i am going to look at a 560 diesel wide front end tractor saturday and i am wondering what it might be worth.the sign says its got 5,000 hrs on it.and they are asking 2500 obo for it.
how much hp does a 560 have?
i am concerned if it will run my 479 haybine and my 430 ih baler.I am trying to get a bigger tractor to do my hay with than my utility and i dont have the money to buy a real nice big tractor.

As someone else mentioned, watch for grey or white smoke after it warms up. Also clean off around the head gasket and watch it after the engine warms up. If you see it seeping or bubbling, it needs a head gasket. Not real uncommon on the D282. I learned this after I bought mine. Not a big deal to change, but it sure makes a good chip for bargining down the price.

The 560D is a good hay machine. I pull a 9 foot moco with mine as well as a JD 467 square baler. I did 310 bales in 1 hour this summer and that included having to get off the tractor once to unplug baler pick up. The 560D is good on fuel also.

I paid $2800 for mine. The tach was not working (common problem)so I don't know the hours. I had the injector pump rebuilt on it and the rebuilder turned it up a little for some extra horses.

Sounds like a decent deal if the engine is good. Look out for gray smoke after it warms up.

A 560 Farmall is plenty of tractor to run a 479 haybine or a square baler under any conditions. They pull pretty good as they are a fairly heavy and long. Something with the balance and weight distribution is right with them. I see them often win tractor pulls at the fairs. My 560 diesel was a tough starter, but if you don't use it much in the winter that shouldn't be a factor. $2500 is a fair price for a decent running 560.

560D will toy with that equipment. If it runs good and does not need egine work its more than a fair price.
1st thing you do is change the hydralic fluid and filter. 460/ 560 water seems to migrate in there pretty easy.
My 460 took 11 gal of it. Not sure what a 560 takes.

I run a 479 haybine with an M, and had an IH 430 which another M handled just fine. Now bale with a JD348 and the M handles it. Baled about 10,000 square bales this summer.

I always mow in 4th gear except in 8 ft tall hay grazer or johnson grass so if an M will handle it a 560 will for sure. The M is a little slow lifting the header on turns.

60 Hp. Bought mine from a friend who used it for one season making hay, with similar size equipment. Sold it when his OL1800 was fixed. He liked it except for narrow front. Good on fuel. Been a good tractor for me. Some folks say they start hard. Mine starts w/o glow plugs above 75F, in barn w/ glow plugs down to 20-30ish. Block heater below that. Everyone"s experience is different. Lots of good discussion in this forum on 560"s. That 6cyl diesel sure sounds good. Good luck.

2500 is really not that much for a tractor find someone who works on them for a living and take them with you if they say its good buy it heck of a deal.

Let us know, thanks!
