Thanks for the help!

Here is what I had. The pump shaft was so worn at the bottom that the gear would move back and forth alot. I thought that if I could get the rod out I could replace it if it was worn and not the casting, The end play in the rod was .015, the book calls for no more than .005. Well, when pulling out the rod, it cracked the bottom of the housing. The rod was worn alot at the bottom and so was the casting. In any case I got a new pump on the way!! I should have replace it with my rebuild anyway.

As far as original pressure, the thing was dead when I got it so I don't know. All else looks good and tight. The pump was VERY played. I think this will fix my problem.

Thanks for all of the help!!

I hope next week will be better!!

Bob

Bob:
Sorry to hear about your problems. Chin up! Everything can be fixed. Looking back I see you had oil pressure problems after you rebuilt the bottom of the engine. 1.Are you sure the crank bearing and crank shaft were properly matched. It really is unusual that oil pressure would drop after rebuilding if it was Ok before. If you had no pressure problems before I would not have tried pulling the pump. However, what is done is done.
2. Consider this! The W-4 has a very poor oil level detection system. The 2 spigots on the side are slow to react as the oil is poured in. If there is too much oil in the pan the bottom of the crank shaft can beat the oil. With deterdent oils this can cause a foam. If this is pulled into the oil pump pressure will drop.
Just a thought.
