I was wondering if anyone knew what the going rate for magnafluxing on a 4 cyl H block and head would be these days? JON

The machine shop I took it to in MO. charged $20 to magnaflux the head on my H and found three cracks, which they fixed.

Pull the pan. Fill the block with water (since the head is off) and see if there is water leaking around the bottom of the sleeves. Just a guess. I think one of the O rings around the bottom of a sleeve is bad.

H's & M's are dry liners. No o-rings. But the block may be cracked or have a hole under the sleeve.

My local shop back home did it for free usually. Of course I did a lot of business there at the time... To the tune of about $400 per week for 6 weeks!

my local carquest gets $12 to do a head, just had one done. don"t know about a block. can"t imagine a whole lot more. maybe $30?

You'll do best to call a few automotive shops in your area. Do you suspect or have you had a problem with the block or head?

I bought this tractor and it had aprox 2 gal of anti freeze in the base. No sighs of cracks to the naked eye and the head gasket looked ok I dont know if someone did this or there is a crack somewhere. That much antifreeze would make you think you would see a problem. JON
