There is a plug on the left side of the tractor. You will find it behind the clutch peddle. The plug will have a small bolt in it. Remove the small bolt then add fluid in large plug on top of trans case next to shift lever. If he's having hyd problems I would change the fluid and the filter. PUTTER

You will see a plug with a square 'hole' in it, near the shift lever. I used the socket wrench itself to turn the plug out. Clean away any foreign material around the plug first. When I drained mine, I also replaced the filter and the system takes 10 gallons - 340 non diesel engine, per I&T IH Shop Manual. Hope this helps and good luck. I like my Farmall 340 row-crop, great tractor!

on my 460 there is a little plug on the left side just under the running board this is the full level,pull the plug and when the fluid runs out she"s full.
