A gentleman has two corn binders for sale. One according to him is in immaculate condition, original paint and lettering. Asking $1,750.

The second he says needs a weld and a minor repair, not museam show piece like first, but will be field ready after repairs. Asking $850.

I have not seen them in person yet, are the asking prices fair ???

I'm located in SE Michigan, I will be going to see it in as couple days. I guess it's a matter of how bad I want it... Thanks Again..

Milan, I posted two pics in implement section of my binder that I paid $700. When I was looking for one a couple years ago,I went to about 10 Amish auction in Northern Indiana. A few binders with motors and wagon elevators brought about $2000. Parts binders(missing chains and binder parts)would still bring near a $1000,and one stuck and rotten wood binder sold for $450. I found mine from a non-amish farmer who had found a JD binder to replace it.

Milan, Some people are nuts when it comes to real good condition old equipment. I was at an auction several years ago and the farmer had an IH corn binder that had never been used and had always been in the shed. If I remember right, it sold for about $5000 (yes that's thousands). It still had paint on the outside of the steel wheels. I am sure that is the extreme. Roger

You don't say where you are, but $1750 sounds a bit high. Around here, eastern Tennessee, corn binders are hard to find. People who sell corn bundles for fall decorations want them. If one is working and has always been shedded, I'd say several hundred, but not nearly $2000. The one that needs repairs, well, a lot less. All depends on how bad you want it.

i would give $1000 for one good enough that the original paint was still on it, ie, always shedded. for $1750 I'd want to see it first.

The Amish will pay good money for certain models with certain features but for the most part I've never seen a binder go for more the $50. Its hard to believe someone is going to pay that much money no matter how good the condition is.
