$2500- appears to be a bit ($500-) on the high side at least for central Iowa - Missouri. IMO.

If its in really nice shape Maybe you can get them to let you do a compression check. I would try it out also see if they will let you mow with it see how it performs when hot. Its like somebody said on the site earlyer better to pay more for a good tractor than pay a little for a pile of Junk. Or something like that. In my area they go from about $1000. to $3000. So who cares what you pay as long as it does what you want and makes you HAPPY. JON

Too high of a price, I would offer him $1,000 or so and see what happens, two years ago a guy near me was selling a cubcadet 1985 model with mower, plow, and rake for $600, I wish I would have bought it. Asking $2,500 is quite steep for that.

That's a little high for my area but too far out of line. I'd make a counter offer and see what happens.
