rescued a farmall (super?) c with mounted mccormick 2*-10 corn picker.I'm not sure what the second character is, it looks like a 2(2)-10. I found very little online about them,(guessing its actually 2c-10).I read somewhere there wasnt many made,is that correct?I found several manuals online for other pickers, and I might be looking the wrong direction. And what are the wringer looking rollers for over the drop chute that funnels to the conveyor?I actually want to try to use this neat little machine, and try to restore it.Anyone have any information?Any stories/things to watch for?
Thanks-Dave

You have made a great find and is worth good money. That picker is 1/2 of the model 20. The 20 was used on both the H and M. We had a model 20 on an M and used it several yrs picked aound 150A per yr. Take good care as it will be an eye catcher at any show. I know of another one in TEXAS as a good friend of mine has one there.

Those wringer looking rollers catch long stalks that make it tru the husking rolls. model no. 2C-10 was the husker picker version and no, 2C-11 was the snapper version. They were made to fit the SC, 200, 230 ect. Only 728 of the combined models were made so they are quite rare. Last week there was a parts manual for them on ebay it didn't get a bid so it may be relisted. As for parts I think they are half of a 2 row 2 ME and you can find them in fence rows yet so you should be abke to find parts. If you want to sell it let me know.

I have one for Cmore. No fan that I can recall...been decades since it was used, it's a 2C-10. Does a good job, but it's really a "snapper" with limited husking ability..Cmore

Hi Dave,

Can't see what you are looking at and don't know your machine, but they are probably husking rolls to clean the ear.

Any sign of a fan on this old machine?

Allan

yep it has a paddle-squirrel cage type fan, among other things(like a small flat belt drive for something)that im not sure what it does..lol all the old local farmers keep telling me to stay away from the rollers, and i think they all have a horror story of someone losin their hand or foot in one..

Those old local farmers were not joking with you. If you go to a nursing home in Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, or anywhere else there are old retired farmers, you will find old men with mangled or missing limbs. The snapping rolls (the ones near the front) get plugged, and someone reaching down to pull the stalks out gets pulled into the rolls. It happens in a heartbeat.

Steve,

Boy! Aint it the truth! It is like an electric fence; ya can't let go of it before it bites ya.

Balers, mowers and cornpickers...shut the things off before attempting any work whatsoever, or your nickname will be "Stubby"!

Yes, snapping rolls and husking rolls are two different things. Snapping rolls snap the ear from the stalk and the husking rolls (usually along with some form of air) attempt to clean that unwanted shuck from the ear.

Allan
