that's the one! i'm in toronto and the tractor is in white. the guy is very firm on $2000. he says the head is the problem. it's a 282 glowplug diesel. has a cab and fast hitch converted to a three point, no t/a. it is VERY rough! to me it's only a $500 project tractor, maybe $1000 on a good day but that's it. the same guy also has a 806 diesel w/ a cab and fast hitch and a t/a. also $2000. a better buy. was parked because the motor was getting tired, but still ran when parked(quite a few years ago). it also is in rough shape but far better than the 706. hope this helps.

I have a 715 diesel combine and 15 years ago the head cracked (it has the exact same head) and lo and behoe after I received 3 repaired heads one of them even was patched with body putty where cavitation occured really badly I finally got a new head. It cost nearly $1400 by the time I was done with the head. Do you put on a new head with old rings? I did and re rung the engine the next summer and replaced the bearings. Beleive you me you will spend most all of $2000 and still not have what you expect.
Maybe it was my luck but I know that there were more parts available 15 yrs ago and repairs do go up. Maybe it was my luck with the salvage yards I dealt with but I wonder after what I have seen at times.
Just my 2 cents worth--

sorry for not making myself alittle more clear....i would only pay $500 for the tractor in the shape it's sitting, maybe $1000 if i was feeling generous. this tractor would take countless hours and money to make decent and useable.

Kyle,

I'd be a little concerned about the crank in the thing. If it needs replaced, you might as well figure that you need an engine and what's that gonna cost? $10K? $12K?

There's probably a reason it is for sale with a bad engine.

Allan
