Sence Nov. 2003 ive got five w series orchard tractors. The o6 ,os6 ods6, os4 ,and the o4 . Are these going to worth anything or not in the future? Or are they worth more now? Im 26 yrs old been in the tractor busness sence i was 13. Do you guys think these will go up in value or are they going peak in price? Guess this is kind of a weird question but i cant help but think about it. Im trying to think of it as an investment for the future but cant help but think are these worth it? All of them are complete and running condtion. Maybe some advice from you guys thats been in the busness longer than i have can ease my mind one way or another. Thanks for your thoughts.

Investment - probably not. If you had put the original purchase price of a tractor in a CD at 3% it would double in 24 years and double again in another 24 years. (rough math). Not many 50 year old complete tractors are worth 4 times their original price

On the other hand. Original tractor parts are becoming more valuable all the time.

Tony, I think it is best to not plan on the prices going up for any of these old tractors. I look at it as a hobby like fishing or golfing and figure on not making any money at it but sure enjoy working on the old tractors.

From what I have seen, the only way those tractors will greatly appreciate in value is if you paint them green and yellow. The people who collect that color of tractor seem to think nothing of paying way too much for something they consider to be rare. Seriously, I think the McCormick orchard tractors are generally worth more than their W series counterparts, particularly the full fendered models. As far as an investment, I don't know, it seems that in general the selling price of any classic tractor, no matter the make, has been slowly declining, or at least holding steady, for several years now, so, in my opinion, the orchard tractors will probably not earn you any money, but they won't lose either.
