I just bought a 61 460D with factory loader, add on 3 point, and TA. I paid 3000.00 for it. 1/4 of the way home it died. I'm told the injector pump is bad. sounds like 1000 to fix it. Did I get ripped off? I'm thinking about fixing it and selling it to get rid of the bad taste from the repairs.

Thanks for any input!

Thanks for all the help. Turns out, there are 2 lines coming from the fuel tank and one was clogged.
Since it's running again, does anyone know the fluid capacities for a 460D?

Thanks Again!

A rosa-master pump usually is a very forgiving pump, doesn't cost an arm and leg to repair. If it was running and just quit, check fuel supply first. We have a couple of repair shops around here, one repairs to specs only, other will bend rules a little and get the old ones going a lot more resonable. Good luck.

I had a kit put in my pump for $300. Unless the head on the pump is shot, it shouldn't cost over $3-400 to fix.

Rmath,

I just went thru this same exact hand wringin', frustrating, mad-to-the-core kind of a thing.

Fix it.

You'll be glad you did and believe me, that bad taste in your craw will go away and you'll forget all about the "I've been taken" feeling you are having now.

Old tractors break down; it is a fact of life.

Allan

Diesel engines in general are expensive to repair, but if you have the repairs done at a reputable shop you should not have that expense again for a very long time. $4,000 invested in a tractor that will be as useful as yours is not anything to be ashamed of. Just take a look at what new compact diesel tractors are selling for and I think you should still be quite proud of your $4,000 investment. That 460 will still be running long after the new tractors have been recycled into even more new tractors.
