I have a M Farmall that at first start up you have to crank it for quite some time before it starts. After it runs for a while it will start right up. Points and plugs and coil have been replaced. thanks

It could possibly be a carburetor problem. It could be flooding while it is not running because the needle and seat are leaking slightly. If you are not shutting off the fuel when you stop the engine, try doing so just before you shut it off.

The other cause could be the carburetor drying out between runs. Giving it a little more time to fill after you open the fuel valve should help this.

Hi, Does the tractor smoke when it does start? If
it smokes a lot during the inital startup it is probably the carb. leaking fuel. If you have to choke the engine a lot to get it started the engine may be starving for fuel. I always shut the fuel off when I finish with the tractor for the day. Being gravity fed there's a lot of weight from a full fuel tank pushing against the
float needle valve. Hal
