I am having a problem with My H. I just bought it. It was running great till I turned it off for about 10 min. then it would not start again when I tried it would back fire. The only thing that I had done to it was put gas in it. Is it suposed to burn somthing besides gas. If anyone can help It would be appriciated Bryan

The H needs 3 things to start & run.
1. Fresh burnable fuel mixture delivered into the cylinders. (it ran so valves, manifold, etc. are likely OK) Check for good fuel supply at the carburetor.
2. Strong properly timed spark. Check the ignition output by pulling the center wire out of the distributor cap and hold it 1/4" from engine ground while someone operates the starter. Be sure the transmission is in neutral and brakes are applied.
3. Good compression. (ir ran so probably OK.)
Look for the simple things first.

The tractor has two fuel tanks. the front one has no cap that is the smaller of the two.
the part that bothers me is that it is back firing would it do thaif the gas was dirty? or could the timming have gone of? the tank that I put gas in was the larger one and it smelt like gas in the tank before I fillrd it. Thanks for your help Bryan

Does it have a small tank in front of the large gas tank on the right side sitting on tractor,If so it could be a distele, Or kero burner,Maybe the float has stuck becuase of particals. And giving it to much gas, or not enough, Juat a few things I can think of.
