Hi again. We need to know how tight to torque the cylinder head bolts on our 46 Farmall A. We are redoing a lot of it so it can last us and our offspring a long time we hope.
Any help you can give will, as always, be greatly appreciated.
Thanks to you all for making this such a nice place.
Tom

The head bolts get torqued to 80 ft-lbs. Work from the center out towards both ends at the same time. You may start at 40 ft-lbs, work your way through all of the bolts, and then increment in 10 lb increments. After you get it all together you will need to run the engine long enough to get it up to operating temperature and then re-torque the head bolts. This means pulling the rocker arm off, torqueing the head bolts, replacing the rocker arms, and then setting the valves again.
