I've got on IH 364 diesel and I have no idea what the "draft control lever does? My lift works great but I've don't know what purpose the draft lever provides. It's just sitting in the same place it was years ago and I don't know for sure if it works or not because I don't know how to use it. Can you offer some info for a inexperienced operator?

I see. So with my little 364 diesel all I will ever pull that is in the ground is a 5'-6' disc. So should I put the draft control to "deeper" if I want this feature to be real sensitive. In other words, in which position "deeper" or the opposite will my draft control respond more quickly to heavy loads on the tractor?

The draft control is a mechanism used to transfer weight from the implement to the tractor when more traction was needed to pull the implement in the hard spots of the field. Raising or lowering the draft control handle would change the amount of pull required to actuate this feature. The operator's manual for my 450 describes the mechanism being connected to the hydraulic lift that would automatically raise or lower the implement in conjucntion with the pull on the draft control cam.

If you were pulling a plow or any other tillage implement with your 3 point.... the draft control lifts the implement out of the ground if the pull of the plow starts to lug the tractor engine down. Essentially it keeps the plow in the ground if the tractor can pull it, but lifts it out if it is too much load on the tractor.

Greg the draft control is for in the ground implement only like a mounted plow blade cultivator it controls the draft or pull on the tractor some call it depth control. It is not for raise or lower. fo hitch.
