Paul, I believe Randy is right. I rebuilt the unit on my M, but removed complete unit because of leak between unit and trans. Remove the 3 bolts from bearing cage behind pulley mounting flange on shaft. Use a slide hammer fastened to pulley shaft to remove the shaft. With shaft out, remove gear, brg.,spacer from shaft. Bearing cage will then slide off of shaft. A snap-ring holds brg. in cage, remove ring and brg. & you can then get seal out. While replacing seal it's a good idea to replace felt washer too. Hope this helps.

Paul...I believe that it will come all the way out without removing the whole power unit. It does take a slide hammer though. Anyone correct me if I'm wrong.

There's a seal,as well as shims. Gearbox has to be taken apart to change it.

Do you have to remove the gearbox or can you get to the seal by removing the end cap looks like about 4 or 5 bolts?
