Check to make sure your spark plug wires on your distibutor cap are on 1-3-4-2 CLOCKWISE and not counter clockwise.

Remove your plugs and check the compression on all cylinders to rule out a blown head gasket or valve problem. Then check out your firing order, cap, rotor, wires, plugs and etc. Good luck.

Start with a new cap and rotor and make sure the wires are on right, Jim

Charles: One common mistake a lot of us have made at one time or another is wire the plug wires wrong rotation around the cap. 2 will be right and 2 will be wrong. Easy to do if your in a hurry.

If this is one you just purchased, or someone has helped you repair, might also check the spark plug wire order, and the points (assuming you have already changed spark plugs). If it has been setting for a while, you may have some sticking valves.

Look inside the distributor cap and clean all the moisture out. If it ran on all 4 when shut down the last time, that would be a likely suspect.
Also, are the spark plugs in decent shape?
