Problem: When engine is not running and the value is open on fuel bowl gas will drip from the bottom of the carb.I think I'm having a problem with the needle value not sealing/seating. The float moves freely and seems to be OK. I even tried setting the float level lower(less fuel in bowl). I don't see any trash in the needle value area. Bad carb Kit? Any ideas????

Glen I have been around letter series tractors for over 50 years. When it comes to seep or very slight drip from carb while not running they fall into 2 catergories them that do and them that will sooner or later. You can probaly stop leak but most likely it will come back. Shutting valve at sediment bowl when parking tractor is best solution in my opinion.

Are some carb kits better than others? I used a kit from my local auto parts house (Car Quest), should I have used another name brand?

Any rust in the fuel system ? All it takes is one little speck of rust on the needle valve to cause it to leak.

Most likely your needle valve is not seating in the seat like it should. There could be a very small burr on the seat or a worn needle valve but it sounds like you recently put in a new carb kit. Another item is check to ensure the float is not leaking allowing fuel to get inside the float causing it to sink and opening up the needle valve. I'd try another needle and seat.

One possible SIMPLE fix is to tighten the seat tighter than HECK into the carburetor top, making sure there is a good gasket in place, and using a good screwdriver of adequate width.
