Saw a cub on the side of the road yesterday, serial Number was 57xxx, think it to be a 46 model. Tin looked good, most all there except changed over to 12 volt, not a very eye pleasing changeover, had a disc belly plow, cultivators in a pile with some other extra. Seem to run ok with little/no smoke, rear tires good, and the hydraulics worked. A little paint, new grill, some work on the electrical to get it back and a few odds and ends (probably more than I think) and it would most likely finish out fairly nice. Was asking $1650, no warrenty, sold at the halter. What do you all think?

offer him 1200 for it that would be a little more fair by the way you are discribing it.

In some parts of the country, that sounds like a fair deal, but in my part of the country it is about twice as much as it would go for according to your description.

Scotty,
I paid $1500 for my 59 Cub in November in good running condition with belly mower. Needs some cosmetic work.

Found it in South Alabama. Scotty, are you from Alabama, too?

First things first. It sure isn't a 46. The first year of production was 1947. According to the partial s/n it would either be a rather late 48 or an early 49.

As for the price, all depends on what you consider to be reasonable. Give you an example. My 48 cost me 1,000.00 Cdn and included the Cub-193 Moldboard plow and a horse drawn spring harrow. Cultivators cost me 500.00 Cdn. Cub-189 Moldboard cost me 300.00 Cdn. Snow plow blade cost me 150.00 Cdn.

Go from there. Oh for the sake of comparison and buying power Cdn and US are considered on par for this type of thing. So if it cost me 25 Cdn, it would run around 25 US in your area thereabouts.

If you go to the manual server at the link below, and check out some of the links such as the FAQ's, Best of H.L. Chauvin, that should give you some more ammunition to barter with.
