Hi I have a 1946 H and ordered rings but they sent me the wrong ones. What is the standard bore size for an H gas? Also the tractor has a belt pulley and at the end where the pulley bolts on it is leaking oil around the part that spins the pulley. What would cause this? Faulty seal? How hard to change? Thanks
Matt

Better take off head and measure what size yours are as over the years you dont know who did what so that would be the only way to get correct ones as i would even pull a piston you have to take them out anyway then you know how many rings and also the width of them.

Matt:

I also have a '46 H Farmall. I tried replacing just the rings as you did but came to find out they would not fit right. So ended up just replacing the whole works.....sleeves, pistons, rings. Even connecting rod bearings since I was in there anyway. The problem is that the set of rings is matched to the piston so many times the rings will not fit or will be to lose on used pistons.
There is both a oil seal and a felt washer on the belt pulley shaft. I got both at my CASE/IH dealer with no problem. If you need the original part numbers I can get them to you. I found it easy enough after you take off the whole pulley assembly and work on it at the work bench. It is heavy!

Hi thanks for replying. I have it torn apart, getting my head checked and cleaned and decked, got new rod bearings, and was going to hone the sleeves and change the rings. Well I ordered the rings and the ones he sent said standard but they are just a hair bigger then my pistons but are thinner. So I was trying to figure out what was stock. I have to pull the whole pulley assembly off? I guess it wont be too hard since the tractor is striped. Here are some pictures of my tractor. First pic:

Check them out. Thanks again for your reply.

Yes, of course it needs a new seal... easy to change. The standard bore for H is 3 3/8
