most m's have had the 4" over bore kit put in them over the years if the block is a 248 original m motor it will have to be bored to accept super m over bore sleeves[4 1/8] what is the bare bore of the block ? some run no sleeves not a good idea if you are going to work the tractor but ok for a pulling toy

I recently put 4-1/8" sleeves and pistons in my 400 block which was originally 4-inch bore. No machine work needed, although block needed some unrelated repairs, which a machine shop performed. And while they had the block, I had them press in the sleeves. It can be a tricky job as they fit very tightly.

I heard that most rebuild kits for the M actually come with the 4.25" sleeves. I don't think they would do that if the sleeves wouldn't fit. I could be very wrong, though.
