I need to change the throwout bearing and yoke on my Cub. I plan to break the tractor at the engine. I am assuming the shaft to the transmission is fixed as long as the bearing retainer on the front of the trans-case is in place. Am I correct? What else do I need to know? I don't want to pull the shaft and the gears fall off if that can happen.

if your graphite bearing is gone and you replace with same type you will need to change the pressure plate. the fingers on it will chew up the new graphite bearing. i learned this the hard way. could not see a thing wrong with plate and new bearing lasted 2 days.
