Just wondering why you do not see alot of 660 tractor ads or posts on these tractors are they a limited production or just a poorly built machine.I do know a few tractor pullers that like them??Paul.

The first year of them had troubles, like the 560. It was a bearing failure somewhere in the final drive. After that they were OK unless you really pulled the snot out of them day in and day out. It's still basically an M rearend with updates and outboard planetary drives. In my area of SW North Dakota there are plenty of them. In fact a couple years ago I sold IH 660 serial #502 w/diesel and hand clutch for my neighbor!

I know there are several more in the trees in the area, just don't have the $$ to fix them if the people would sell. Maybe someday...

The 660 was built for Wheatland, Rice and construction uses and there were not that many produced. Between 1959 to 1963, only 6494 units were built. I am in Ohio and those monster Wheatland tractors are next to non-existent in my area. They would make one heck of a puller! Hopefully someone with experience of this model can tell you if they had troubles or not.
