heres my problem,I know that all three slider gears are worn,I think the middle one is the worse, but am replacing all three. The hole for the pin on the shifter is worn as well, but I am having the hole built up and redrilled to match the pin in a spot that isnt wore and replacing the pin.The rails are worn on the fork bad so Im replacing those.I dont know for sure, butI suspect the end of the shifter is worn too since the slot for the rails are worn so I need to build it up to match the slot on the rails.

You need the knob to just go into the shifter rails amd long enough to go to the bottom of the notch when the transmission is in neutral. If your H is jumping out of gear, it probably has a worn gear. If you are having trouble with the shifter not reurning the transmission to neutral, check the cross pin and the hole in the transmission top for wear. If this is the problem I put a fix on about 6 months ago.

49 cubber, does your (h) pop out of 4th or 5th gear ? I have a 42 that will not stay in 4th, I have heard that a worn shift fork will cause this, I guess I have the same question as you do ?
