I feel like I'm rich and I don't have two pennies to rub together. I have the same wife for 21 years. Two healthy well adjusted kids. Three tractors of which at least one will run most of the time. And a dog that love's me. Money don't make you rich, it just gives you headaches.

I need to add a point about my earlier reply after reading some that were saying not to knock a man down because he's doing well with money. I'm not knocking that, I'm knocking the piss-poor snobby attitudes that the majority of them seem to have. This is from my personal experience. I know a couple of local yokels who have no problems with money and are quite "comfortable" and are some of the most pleasant people you'll ever meet! So I realize the door swings both ways, but seems to stay open more to the bad attitudes. Unfortunately.

I hear ya there, I have a neighbor whos wife thinks I am a bit of a redneck or something because my yard doesnt look as nice as theirs etc, etc, etc, But when you look at the bottom line. What am I worth $$ wise and what are they worth $$ wise and I would bet that I am further up on the positive side then they are. There is verse in the book of Proverbs (old testament) that says "One appears to be rich yet has nothing and one appears to be poor yet has great wealth" I would much rather look poor and have a lot a money, Of course I dont have a lot of money but I drive an 8 year old car that is paid for.

The point he's trying to make is... there are some wealthy a$$holes and some poor a$$holes. I'll bet that you are the only one that read that, that didn't catch on.

Everybody has different experiences, for different reasons. I have known snobby rich folks, and snobby middleclass folks. I have known nice rich folks, and nice poor folks. The thing that surprises me is to see nasty attitudes towards others on a forum like this. Most of you are from the midwest, and most are professed Christians, but some are not very Christian in their behavior towards others. A little tolarance goes a long way in life. I think life is too short to be mean or nasty to anybody.

I have a neighbor who is sorta uppity. His wife is sorta uppity also. A few years ago he asked me to plow his driveway because he was not happy with the fellow who was plowing. I always try to help anyone who asks, and so I plowed the driveway. He now always calls me to plow, if I dont do it automaticly. He not only pays me about 3 times what it is worth, last year his fatherinlaw died, and he gave me the lincoln welder and the utility trailer he inherited. I painted the trailer red, put a big IH sticker on it, and the son in law towed it with my daughter and grandson in it in the parade behind the cub. I gave the welder to my son, who did not have a welder.
Mother always said"you get more flies with honey than you do with vinegar".

I'm just a cable dude. But I have my hopes up for that big lotto win. I'd probably become a hermit near good hunting and fishing. Folks would think I'm a snob because I would try to get away from everyone.

What is wrong with rich guys?I'm far from rich, but I know its the rich guys that helped make this country great, they are the ones who build railroads, stillmeels, business, and fractories.Have you ever been in a country that had no rich guys?I have, you dont want to go there. Be a good neighbor and plow him out, youl be a better man for doing it. jimmy

I could be that snotty guy if it weren't for the fact that I have made it my business to introduce myself to all my neighbors, rich or poor, and be civil. It's helped through a few issues.....one SOB used to play guitar through an AMP you could hear miles away. I'll take the rich guy over that guy. When a few of the new city types were appalled at the manure odor, and the late night farming, a cordial explanation of all that makes farming great was not lost on them. Bottom line is that you shouldn't judge somebody by their financial success. I'v know happy poor people and miserable rich people. They were all my friends. It's just as easy to put a positive spin as a negative one.

Take Care
Steve

Don't label them all - they aren't all like that. I have several friends in their 40's and 50's that started with nothing and now live in $250k houses - nicest guys I've ever met. Most of them would give me the shirt off their back if it would help me get through a tough time.

There are jerks out there, but not all of them are that way...

I agree with Bill. If he has gotten it honestly, and/or worked hard he should be applauded. Too many want to punish success. I see far too many who are both unwilling to work, and still feel society "owes" them the same privileges as those who work hard.

Good point Bill.

I'm in England and there's a long tradition of knocking anybody who's done well for themselves either through good fortune or sheer hard work.

Never fails to amaze me.

[rant]
My personal feelings are that it's almost entirely caused by the tabloid press who will print anything to sell more papers without really thinking about the consequences. I don't buy newspapers anymore - I just watch the news, check out the BBC web site and read YTmag!

First thing I woulda said is "How much is it worth to ya?" I hate rich snobby yuppies. They're everywhere. Drove up the cost of pickups, still driving up the cost of old iron and utility-to-medium sized tractors. Drive like "richard noggins" and are so good that they can't even give you a nod hello back. But when they need something from one of us good ole boys they're all friendly and sociable. Hypocrytical sonsa******* Hate em hate em HATE EM!
