Rick: The diesel is actually just 2/3 of the famous 282 cubic inch 6 cylkinder diesel used in 560, 660, 656, early 706, as well as a host of industrial applications. It is a good engine, glow plugs a must even in warm weather, block heater only answer for winter starting.

The opinion that it is basically a 560 tractor with a 4 cylinder engine is completely wrong. The complete rear of tractor is basically 300, 350 and 460, as it applies to size and strength.

I had a Farmall 504 gas. I ran it for 12 years then sold it for more than I paid for it. It is basically a 560 with a 4 cylinder engine. You will never wear out the drive train. Don't know much about the diesel, might be rare, I've never seen one.

I owned one for a short time.It was the most miserable tractor I have ever owned and I have owned a lot of tractors. It was such a difficult tractor to start in the winter time.
