I agree with those that have stated that there really wasn't anything factory black. Except for a couple of givens such as rubber on steering wheel and so forth. I personally like the looks of it better with a few items painted black such as axles, p.t.o. shaft, lights, nobs, caps and so on. It really sets off the red and silver tractor with a little black. Alot of stuff probably wasn't intended to be painted red, but essentially got hit with a good coat of overspray.

Gary: Most of those black items you are seeing are replacment parts, for example, starters, generators gas caps. I would do a bit of checking on the radiator cap item, I can remember seeing new Farmalls on the lot with silver or chrome plated rad caps. This would have been very late 40s and 50s but letter series Farmalls.

I personally like the black replacment gas caps. I have them on all my Farmalls. I have red caps as well, and if the ocasion is right I use them.

The only black on an H is the steering wheel rim, distributer cap, and plug wires, along with the seat canvas if you have an early model. Even the fan belt had red overspray on it. NOTHING was actually painted black.

I've talked to a lot of guys at shows who say that they paint the starter, generator, voltage regulator, coil, and some other parts black to give some contrast to all the red even tho all these things were red from the factory.
