We had a modified cable bracket to hold the brake cable close to the frame when we had a picker on. This may e another verion of a cable protector for use with a mounted picker on a F-20.

I wonder if it had to do with a picker being on it at sometime. It looks familiar, but I can't remember if mine had one on it when I got Grandpa's F20.

That is a very interesting piece. All of the photo archives show nothing like it. Since the factory cable guide is missing from the tractor in the photo, it must have been added to keep the cable supported for some other attachment. Please be sure to post if you find out what it is.

Could it possibly be for mounting attachments such as cultivators? Not to mount the cultivators to, but to guard the cables. If they are on both sides, it would allow the turning assist cables to have a safe place to run. I have seen them myself, and that is what I came up with!!!

That is nice ol F-20!! I got a later F-20 that dad bought years back,, It has a Behlen road gear, and foot brakes. It did not run when he bought it,, he tore it down to unstick the motor, and have not been able to remove the flywheel. Would make a nice ol parade trator!! This one has 36 in rubber on it,, Most 20's I have seen had the small tires on it.. It that something that you see all the time on the 20's? 36in tires... It still has the original rear tires on it too. Still in great shape,, and holds air in both of them!! It was in an old barn when he found it, sat in there for years, Well just thought I would share the story of dad's f-20,, ChadS

did not mean to confuse anyone, that is not my tractor, I stole the pic off the web. But I do have one of those tin dohickys. Maybe it is to hold the cable. Maybe to keep it out of the belt?
