Could really use help from anyone familiar with the variable speed "field change" governor. The F-20 I'm restoring had a home made throttle linkage & Bosch mag on it when I found it. I want to restore the throttle linkage back to the original setup. I now have a F4 mag & the spark tube linkage is easy to figure-out but, the "field change" throttle linkage has me baffled. What was the advantage of this governor? If there was a separate linkage on the right side, was the throttle rod & lever non-functional? Any pics of a working set-up would be a big help. Many thanks!!! Great forum.

The variable governor uses it's own linkage. The rod that goes down throught the hood is generaly unhooked. Sometimes the little lever on the front of the throttle tube on the lefthand side ahead of the carb by the radiator is taken off of the notch inside ground off. Also you will have to change the governor back to get you adjustment spring. Here is a pic I posted in the "parts & pieces" gallery. there are 2 more there. If you realy want to change it back original please email me.
