I've got a 59 460 gas WFE, loader 3pt and arthritic kness/hips. My question of the year - what would be a good tractor choice to trade my 460 for, that is lower to the ground and easier to get on/off, but still have comperable hp? We don't have lots of cash so it can't be anything exotic! I'll take any suggestions and run them thru the Boss, and see what we come up with.

I don't think think a w series is the answer, especially for loader work. They are low, making it hard to see what your doing. Plus they are notorious for hard steering and clutching. I am totally a ih man but my loader tractor is not.
The tractor is low to the ground, a deutz 5505 1964 model. burns little fuel, glow plug start, aircooled and has powersteering plus 540/1000 pto and live hyd. Got it for $3500 Can, about $2500us. Very handy tractor if you can find one. I think it will be tough to replace your 460, unless it is a rowcrop, in that case find a utility version.

if you have a 460 row crop, the 460 utility will work about as well, or almost any utility of about any make with about the same HP.

The W series sits lower but the bigger 9 still isn't that easy to mount/dismount. If you don't mind going a little newer, look for a 484, or a 340, or similar utility styled tractor. We have a 484 and they are VERY easy to get on and off. Might have slightly less power than a 460 but not by much.

I would maybe try one of the W-series tractors. They are fairly low to the ground but yet offer a good amount of horspower. Depending on what you use it for, a W-4,W-6, or W-9 would be a good buy or trade. I know of a W-9 in the photo ads that is really nice. My thoughts.
