What is the availability of a wide front for my H Farmall? IH preferred but aftermarket=OK. How much do they usually go for? Anyone have one for sale? Thanks, Warren

A very nice, original IH wide front sold on e-bay recently for over $700.

I sold a perfect original IH wide front a couple years ago for $400 - that was cheap. Consider yourself lucky if you can find a good original IH for that price (tie rods out front).

Used Schwartz are easy to find and cheaper to buy, and they are built stronger. I put Schwartz heavy duty wide front on my H, plan on having a loader for it someday.

I've seen several original IH wide fronts for sale, ranging from $250 for a poor one, all the way up to $900 for a perfect one with good paint, wheels, and tires.

If you really want original, I might be able to get one from an M (if it is still there) for about $600, would trade for narrow front and $500. Good luck!

Hi Warren,

People have been telling me that the M and H front ends don't interchange...

Do they?

Thanks,

Allan

They will interchange from the H through the 450 for sure, since my wide front came from a 450 that I put on my H.

The differences: the plate that sets the old style tie rod in front of axle front end back further is wider on the M - you will need the H plate to set it back (if you want it set back). And the steering arm has the holes spaced wider on M thru 450 vs the H thru 350 - I slotted the holes with a torch to make the 450 arm fit my H.

I hope things are going well for you and yours.
Hey Kelly C...How about a day of haying and making my 450 do the work for which it was designed? It will be in Hinckley next summer and the little bro would be up for a haul down there just to see it work.
good luck

Hey Steve.
I see you are selling the H again. Wish I had a couple grand around to give you for it.
Got a suggestion for you though. The only thing thats keeping that mean machine from bringing what you want is the paint.
Sorry to say it but most people are drawn to the sizzle rather than the steak.
You could have a total POS and if it looked good you would get more out of it.
Go get a gallon of IH2150 wash her down and paint it. Dont even have to knock out the dings.
Be sold in a week. Betcha.

I know, paint sells. Thing is, price is set so high no one would even buy it with fresh paint. Basically, I can't say no to the amount of $$ I'm asking - don't know if I would ever sell it. I have power steering kit on the way for it - going to have the live hydraulics on by this summer too!

Take care!

Make sure you document the hydralics real good. I plan on buying a cheap M with my hay money this next fall. Going to put my big loader on it.
Live hydralics with a bale spike in the back and one on the loader. I would have a bale moving machine!!!
