I have a 400 which originally ran on gas. Years ago it was converted to L.P. with an after market kit.. Tin was not cut well during the coversion. I'am considering getting a gas tank and new tin( I have the original carb.) Is this worth while project and how hard would the rework from propane to gas be. Any ideas are appreciated. The tractor is running now but needs a clutch and of course T/A. I already have the tin lined up Thanks

Have converted M back to gasoline from LP. It was just a matter of removing LP equipment and adding gasoline tank, gasoline lines and carburator. To get tractor to run right you will probaly have to switch to gasoline manifold. The LP manifold has no provision for heating incoming mixture. My M runs great under load after it is warmed up but have not been able to get it to run smoothly under no load condition. I plan to switch manifolds just have not got around to it.

Hey Red, Don't the pullers use LP heads on gas powered tractors? If the conversion included an LP head it seems like going back to ALMOST original could net you some power.

when I was a kid dad had a 450 gas converted it to LPG and nearly wore it out. Then he converted it back to gas. It never ran worth a darn. It was in the late 60's when he did it and parts were available but the side hoods were patched at the local sheet metal shop and he just looked at the center hole and the steering shaft as the dealer wanted $70 for a new one. That was a great running tractor on LP Gas but on Gasoline the second time around it never ran good.He changed the carbuetor governer and lots of things but no success on having it run like the first time on Gasoline. He finaly traded it off for a 806 and used the 560 in the place of the 450.
