I pulled the return lines off at the steering pump and have a good supply of fluid coming back from the front end when I crank the starter over. Is it safe to say the problem lies in the front end? Time to pull the radiator and take a look? Still waiting for the manual to arrive. Any Ideas? Thanks Andy.

Ten years ago I could not steer my 574. We changed filters, rebuilt the the cylinder and no luck. Then we found out that a relief valve in the rear end of the tractor was worked lose and allowing too much bypass. After tightening it, the steering was again as good as it ever was. Just to say, the system is more complex than it seems. So you start with the obvious and sooner or later discover the problem. It is probably something simple or a rig job from the last guy.

You have oil cooler lines going to the front so make sure you pulled the right lines but if you have oil flow the steering punp is the one that pumps oil to cooler. I did not think of this last night but you would not have 2 pumps on that tractor if you did not have hydraulic hitch so if you have remote hydraulics with the hitch moving I would think pump working. You might try steering as you hold one remote valve. Did you jack up front end to see if you can trun the steering by hand or are the wheels tight and will not turn then the front end would need looked at.

Before you start taking the front end apart take a look at the casting where the stearing motoor works on the front end. My dad just replaced this part on his Oliver. I am sure the IH has some similar piece where the tie rod ends fasten.
