Well I had the carb off and on all day. That is after I drained the tank and swabbed it out with a rag. Put on a new strainer shutoff and blowed out the line. When it got too dark to see the fuel was not coming out of the tank so I am going to have to take the tank off and try to get it cleaner.

I'm somewhat hesitant to respond because I think you know more about this than I do. You can't get much of the crud out of the tank with a rag because it has baffles. Does gas run out of the tank without the bowl attached to the valve/housing? Sometimes you get an air lock and have to loosen the bowl until it fills. Otherwise run a wire through the valve into the tank (I think it will go thru the valve). The carb has a screen attached to the fitting that the line fits thru, probably rusted and plugged. With a clean carb the tractor should start, may not run long, but it should run. If it dies, then you can remove the tank and clean it -- If it were mine, I would just like to see if it would run first.

cnks, yes, I did find the baffle. I think that is my problem. The front part of the tank looked fairly clean but I think there was enough grainy crud behind the baffle that is floating around and pluging the outlet into the strainer. It just needs rinsed out good and I'm not sure I can do that without removing the tank.
