Oil bath air filters

On a B414 diesel, can the oil be sucked out of the oil bath air cleaner into the sump? I'm getting a little extra oil every time I run the tractor. Injectors are recently rebuilt, runs great, no smoke if I don't put much oil in the air cleaner. Injector pump rear seal doesn't seem to be leaking, but the pipe that runs from the intake maniford to the gear plate on the injector pump is running with oil. Interesting, but puzzling. Any thoughts?

If the engine smokes when the oilbath cup is filled properly, I would look for some kind of obstruction in the intake passage.
Diesels need LOTS of air so examine the air passages from beginning to end.
This "choking" effect may cause excess unburned fuel to dilute the oil.
Good luck.

Thanks both for the info. I've never had this tractor under any real load, just been working on it and plan to use it for mowing pastures. It does start to miss when I get the RPM up to the top while running up and down the road. I've been told that the governor will cause that, don't know. I have had the air cleaner cannister off, but didn't run it at that time. My biggest concern is that I'm getting diesel into the engine oil and risking a huge repair bill.

i dont know much about the 414, but in general, diesels that gain engine oil are getting fuel oil intot he motor oil and dilution. you might get the motor oil sampled to see if it has diesel fuel in it. might also look for causes around the pump, or possible internal leaks, or ties to the oil piping???
